Short description
“Ad ascoltare il tempo” is a site‑specific soundwalk that invites children and families to explore Vicenza by listening rather than looking, combining amplified contemporary soundscapes with binaurally reconstructed historical scenes. Participants, equipped with wireless headphones, move through selected locations around the Basilica Palladiana and the historic centre, where live urban sound is captured via mobile stereo/binaural microphones and overlaid with studio‑produced historical soundscapes—horse‑drawn carriages, markets, shoemakers at work, church interiors—aligning past and present in the same acoustic field. At each listening point, guided by Ilaria Rodella, they reflect on what they hear (types of sounds, social meanings, differences between then and now), and map their discoveries onto facsimiles of Peronio’s 1481 map of Vicenza using transparent overlays, creating “layered” collective sound‑memories to take home
