Institution / context: Fondazione Mostra Internazionale d’Illustrazione per l’Infanzia Štěpán Zavřel, Sarmede (TV), Italy, within the PNRR – M1C3 Investment 3.3 “Support for cultural and creative sectors for innovation and digital transition”.
Role:
I work with the Fondazione Zavřel as a digital ecosystem designer and project coordinator, focusing on the overall architecture and implementation of the foundation’s new digital environment:
designing the global digital ecosystem (web portal, online archive, virtual museum, web app, assistive technologies, mediatheque, digital classroom);
curating the concept and configuration of an immersive educational room for workshops and public programmes;
conceiving and realising two virtual museums/galleries dedicated to the Zavřel collection and to recent editions of the exhibition Le immagini della fantasia.
The project D.ALI.Za. aims to digitise the foundation’s heritage and educational activities in an ecosystemic way, significantly improving accessibility, inclusion and long‑term sustainability for audiences and learners in the field of children’s book illustration.
Key components include:
Online digital archive: a searchable platform providing remote access to original works by Štěpán Zavřel, the historical illustration collection and related multimedia materials (catalogues, videos, documentation).
Virtual museum and digital tours: immersive virtual environments for the permanent collection and for editions of Le immagini della fantasia, designed for remote visitors and educational use.
Web app and assistive technologies: a mobile‑first curatorial guide for on‑site visits, integrating multimedia content, audio guides, augmented reality and accessible navigation for diverse publics.
New web portal with e‑commerce: a unified platform for institutional information, the International School of Illustration, the digital archive, the virtual museum and the sale of publications, editions and courses.
Mediatheque and digital classroom: hardware and software infrastructure for on‑site access to digital content, VR/AR experiences and online teaching for the International School of Illustration.
Staff training: targeted capacity‑building activities to enable the foundation’s team to manage and maintain the new digital platforms and workflows over time.
